Jus Buah Tingkatkan Risiko Mati Muda Bukan hanya minuman soda atau berpemanis yang tak baik untukkesehatan . Penelitian terbaru justru menemukan jus buah dapat meningkatkan risiko kematian dini. Studi yang baru saja dipublikasikan di JAMA Network Open menemukan fakta bahwa minum terlalu banyak minuman manis termasuk jus buah murni dapat meningkatkan risiko kematian dini. Penelitian ini mendefinisikan minuman manis sebagai minuman yang dapat meredakan haus dengan tambahan gula seperti soda, minuman rasa buah, dan jus buah murni tanpa gula maupun mengandung tambahan gula.
Meminum jus buah dalam jumlah yang berlebihan meningkatkan risiko kematian dini mulai dari 9-42 persen. Penelitian ini menemukan gula alami di dalam jus jeruk misalnya, mirip dengan gula yang ditambahkan dalam soda dan minuman manis lainnya. Studi ini menganalisis data dari 13.440 orang dewasa berusia 45 tahun ke atas. Hampir 71 persen dari mereka merupakan obesitas. Hasilnya, orang yang mengonsumsi 10 persen atau lebih dari kalori harian berasal dari minuman manis memiliki risiko 44 persen lebih tinggi meninggal akibat penyakit jantung koroner. Mereka juga memiliki risiko 14 persen lebih tinggi mengalami kematian dini dibandingkan orang yang mengonsumsi kurang minuman manis lima persen atau lebih rendah dari kalori harian. Setiap tambahan 12 ons jus buah per hari akan meningkatkan risiko kematian sebanyak 24 persen. Setiap tambahan 12 ons minuman manis per hari dikaitkan dengan 11 persen risiko kematian.
"Minuman manis, baik minuman ringan atau jus buah, harus dibatasi," kata peneliti Jean A Welsh yang berasal dari Emory University, Amerika Serikat, kepadaCNN . Konsumsi gula yang tinggi dari minuman ringan dan jus buah terkait dengan faktor risiko penyakit kardiovaskular seperti obesitas, diabetes dan trigliserida tinggi. Risiko penyakit yang tinggi ini juga berdampak pada risiko kematian dini. Penelitian ini menemukan minuman manis meningkatkan resistensi insulin sehingga meningkatkan risiko penyakit kardiovaskular. Konsumsi fruktosa juga merangsang hormon yang meningkatkan berat badan di sekitar pinggang. Untuk menghindari dampak dari jus buah yang dapat menyebabkan kematian dini, konsumsi jus buah harus dibatasi.
"Konsumsi jus buah harus dalam ukuran sedang pada anak-anak dan orang dewasa, terutama bagi individu yang ingin mengontrol berat badan mereka," kata ahli nutrisi Marta Guasch-Ferré dari Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
