Makan Telur Setiap Hari Bisa Cegah Risiko Stroke? Telur selama ini dikaitkan dengan kandungan kolesterol yang tinggi sehingga harus dibatasi bagi mereka yang memiliki riwayat penyakit hipertensi dan stroke di keluarga.
Namun penelitian baru-baru ini justru menemukan fakta baru. Konsumsi satu butir telur setiap hari dilaporkan justru dapat menurunkan peluang Anda mengidap penyakit jantung dan stroke di kemudian hari.
Untuk mendapatkan temuan ini peneliti dari China dan Inggris yang dipimpin oleh Profesor Liming Li dan Dr Canqing Yu dari Universitas Peking, menganalisis data dari lebih dari 400.000 orang dewasa di Cina yang berusia antara 30 hingga 79 tahun.
Sebanyak 416.213 peserta yang dipilih untuk studi khusus ini tidak memiliki pengalaman kanker, penyakit kardiovaskular atau diabetes sebelumnya. Mereka ditanyai seberapa sering mengonsumsi telur.
Setelah penelitian awal, status kesehatan mereka kemudian ditindaklanjuti selama sembilan tahun. Profesor Li dan Dr Yu memutuskan untuk langsung membandingkan hasil dari 13,1 persen peserta yang menyatakan bahwa mereka makan telur setiap hari dan 9,1 persen responden yang menegaskan bahwa mereka tidak pernah atau hampir tidak pernah mengonsumsi telur.
Peneliti menemukan bahwa mereka yang makan telur setiap hari mengalami penurunan risiko menderita stroke hemoragik, yang terjadi ketika ada pendarahan di dalam atau di sekitar otak sebesar 26 persen.
Pemakan telur juga berisiko 28 persen lebih sedikit menderita kematian yang disebabkan oleh stroke hemoragik dan berisiko lebih rendah 18 persen mengalami kematian akibat penyakit kardiovaskular. Tak hanya itu, mereka juga berisiko 12 persen lebih kecil kemungkinannya untuk mengembangkan penyakit jantung iskemik.
“Temuan kami menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi telur setiap hari memiliki kaitan dengan risiko lebih rendah penyakit kardiovaskular, penyakit jantung iskemik, jantung koroner utama, stroke hemoragik dan stroke iskemik di kalangan orang dewasa setengah baya di Cina,” ujar Profesor Li dilansirNypost.com .
Meski demikian, Profesor Nita Forouhi dari University of Cambridge mengatakan bahwa diet keseluruhan peserta harus diperhitungkan ketika menilai hasil penelitian.
"Dalam konteks Barat, jika Anda makan telur dengan banyak roti putih olahan, daging olahan seperti daging dan sosis dan saus tomat yang kaya gula, tentu risikonya akan berbeda dengan mereka yang makan telur dengan roti gandum dan sayuran," jelasnya.
Forouhi pun mengimbau agar masyarakat memilih menu pendamping yang sehat saat mengonsumsi telur sehingga hasilnya pun akan lebih terasa.
